The Fire Lenticular photographic images were originally taken in 2009. But the desire to expose them in the form of lenticular imaging flared during the Port Hills Fires in 2017.
The Elemental Files, which thus far include Water, with the creation of Dark Water in 2011, and this artwork Fire Fire in 2017, are a poignant reminder as to who is the boss on this planet, whilst forcing a terse reminder to acknowledge it’s omnipresence and fragility.
The digital technique applied to the photographic imagery explores the art of the Mandala, symbolic geometric healing art from the Buddhist spiritual beliefs.
Lenticular imaging provides the platform, a 2D medium that captures movement and motion, illuminating a 3D image.
I am fascinated by life’s dance in time and space. Art imitates life or at least seeks to capture a moment of its overpowering presence.
My art practice primarily explores theories of energy, the force, the field, God, whatever you wish to call it. The ‘ISNESS’ is how I often refer to it. The life force that is eternally present in all that exists. A universal Language. I am attempting to capture moments of this presence, communicating them in such a way that we the viewer/participator might understand the elusive ‘ISNESS’ a little more.
